SPINA LAB

Investigating Immune Modulation by Tumor Irradiation

The Spina Lab at CUIMC investigates how radiation reshapes tumor and systemic immunity through preclinical, translational, and clinical research. Our mechanistic investigations are designed to discover therapeutic vulnerabilities to support combination strategies to overcome radioresistance and improve patient outcome.

Led by Dr. Catherine Spina

The lab integrates cutting-edge translational research with clinical insight to identify and overcome mechanisms of radiation resistance, particularly those mediated by suppressive myeloid cells. Using single-cell level analyses of patient-derived biospecimens and robust preclinical models, we develop novel therapeutic strategies to synergize with radiation and immunotherapy—advancing discoveries from bench to bedside and back
